Know before you go: traveling in Egypt

Curious about traveling to the best beaches in Egypt? Here are some thing to keep in mind:

  • Visas: Do you need a visa for traveling in Egypt? You might! It depends on where you’re coming from, and where you’re going. If you’re staying exclusively in the southern Sinai peninsula within the areas of Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba for 14 days or less, you might be able to get an entry stamp on arrival at the Taba Border. Please check your specific visa needs before planning travel to Egypt.
  • Safety: Is Egypt safe for travelers? As with every country, there are certainly places that are safe for travelers. Here at Abraham, we operate in the Sinai Peninsula close to the border with Israel. Southern Sinai is generally considered safe for travel, and the Egyptian government and military goes to great lengths to keep the southern Sinai safe for travelers. For example, you’ll notice many military checkpoints while you travel in Sinai (so be sure to keep your passport handy). If you plan to travel to other parts of Egypt, please check with your home country’s safety guidance.
  • Weather & geography: Egypt is mostly mountainous desert, and it also contains valleys (near the Nile River). If you’re traveling in Egypt, please keep in mind that it is typically very hot and dry, and you should be prepared for extreme heat in the warmer months, and in the winter, for cool weather at night.
